Celebrating the wonderful career of William T. Wiley, 60 Works for 60 Years explored 60 of his prints created throughout his career.  As an artist who is synonymous with the San Francisco area’s Funk style, Wiley has been actively creating prints in all media since the 1960’s.  This exhibition highlighted not only Wiley’s efforts in lithography, silkscreen, woodcut, and etching, but also showed his work with some of the best printers in the United States.  Included in the exhibition were examples of prints from the Landfall Press, Crown Point Press, Lawrence Lithography, Teaberry Press, Shark’s and the Experimental Workshop among others.  As the title of the exhibition implies, William Wiley was born in 1937.  Raised in Bedford, Indiana he moved West to attend the San Francisco Art Institute where he received both his BFA and his MFA.  A highly influential art professor at the University of California at Davis from 1962 to 1973.  Wiley’s work is represented in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, New York; the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, and the San Francisco Museum to name a few.  Most recently his work was included in the touring exhibition Landfall Press: Twenty-Five Years of Printmaking.  Not only a printmaker, Wiley is also a printer, sculptor, and songwriter.
