OKLAHOMA CITY – Lacye Swilley-Russell will give an artist talk and teach the printmaking process of collagraphy at Untitled [ArtSpace]. The free artist talk will be on November 21 at 6:30 pm and will cover her use of printmaking in her art. The Collagraphy Workshop will be on November 22 and 23 with sessions from 10 am to 6 pm each day.
Collagraphy combines the artistic methods of frottage and collage into a printmaking form. It is a flexible printmaking process that allows for the personalization of materials and techniques through printing with texture. Each collagraph plate can be printed through relief, intaglio, or emobssing methods. The collage of colors can be created with rollers and paintbrushes, and texture can be added with organic materials, strings, and sandpaper. The use of mixed media and the variety of colors give the collagraphs depth in the final relief. Participants will all learn the processes of collagraphy and will turn their experiments into prints that they can take home.
