SOLD OUT Intro to letterpress with Alexandra Rivas

Learn the basics of letterpress printing at Artspace at Untitled! During this introductory workshop, participants will learn everything they need to successfully start incorporating this historic medium into their own art and design practices. Working on Artspace’s Vandercook proofing press, we will cover what’s what in the letterpress studio, how to select and compose type, press operation, maintenance, and how to pull a quality letterpress print — all while discussing the history and contemporary uses of this delightfully hands-on printing method. All materials provided and ages thirteen and up are welcome. There is free parking at ARTSPACE for all participants.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:

Alexandra Rivas is a graphic designer and photographer based in OKC. Raised in Oklahoma, she graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2018. She is passionate about working with high school and college students to help them discover new opportunities and skills to further their education and future careers. Currently she spends her time taking photos, experimenting with type design and letterpress printing, and cleaning up after her two messy studio mates — her dogs!
