The Press at Untitled, Oklahoma City's premier print studio, offers a series of demonstrations, classes, and workshops in an array of printmaking and artistic disciplines.
Workshops are taught by local and visiting artists which includes monoprints, lithography, etching, relief, paper engineering, serigraphy, fiber arts and the book arts. We provide the local community opportunities to explore artistic expression in a creative and collaborative workspace.
Please note: If you cannot attend a workshop, you must cancel 1 week in advance. We are unable to offer refunds after this time frame.
Join us on March 2nd from 1-4 PM for a workshop over suminagashi marbling processes! Suminagashi or “floating ink” is the Japanese process of marbling plain paper with water and ink to transform it into something vibrant and colorful. It originated in Japan as early as the 12th century, and continues to be a fun and easy process that lends spectacular results.
Join us on Saturday, March 16th for an all-day workshop, 10 AM - 4PM with Press Member, Virginia Sitzes! In this workshop, participants will learn a process called "waterless lithography." Similar to traditional stone lithography, participants will draw onto an aluminum plate, rather than a stone, using water-based materials. Stone lithography is a time-intensive process that takes multiple days, however during this workshop participants will learn a quicker version of this type of printing, while also creating an original edition of their very own art!
Join us on March 23rd for a wood block workshop taught by Artspace’s Education Director, Alexa Goetzinger! This workshop kicks off our Steamroller Festival open studio Saturdays. With this discounted rate of $40 you will learn the art of woodblock printing while carving and printing your own small wood block in a manageable three hours! If you can complete this workshop, there’s no doubt you can do the Steamroller Festival too! All supplies will be provided - just come with a drawn image (or one in mind) that you’d want to print with your block!
Learn about Solarplates in our studio on March 30th from 1 - 4 PM ! Solarplates were developed as a nontoxic alternative to traditional etching processes. It is a simple, safer and faster approach than traditional etching and relief printing. This process does not use grounds, acids or solvents. The plates are exposed to UV light and developed with ordinary tap water.
Spring is here, and so is papermaking in the garden! Join us and Press Member, Emma Difani on Saturday, April 13th for a papermaking workshop, learning this unique and delicate craft.. Come learn about the process of breaking down recycled materials and reconstructing them into different types of paper for a range of art processes. This workshop over this delicate and unique craft is one you won’t want to miss!
