Summary:
Are you looking for a hands-on activity that’s off screen for your kids? We have a workshop for you! ARTSPACE is offering an art workshop that will guide parent and child to work together in create their very own paper puppet stop motion piece. Over 4 sessions, participants will learn the history of paper cut out animation and learn how to make both poseable shadow puppets and poseable paper puppets. They will also learn the ancient art of shadow puppetry and the incorporate the intricate design style into their work. At the end, participants will get to display their films in a red carpet screening. All materials and lunch will be provided so please provide dietary restrictions.

Saturdays 10 AM - 1:30 PM (includes lunch for one adult and one child)

Screening party Nov 21 at 7pm ( friends and family are welcome to attend the screening)
Who?
Recommended Age: 1st grade through 4th grade
Each child under 12 must be accompanied by a parent.
Participant Rate: $175 (Covers both parent and child materials, instruction, lunch)
* Additional children are $25 each
Who’s Teaching?
Instructor: Waverly Wang
Waverly Wang is an award-winning stop-motion filmmaker, animator, and fabricator based in Edmond, Oklahoma. A recent graduate of UCLA’s Animation MFA program, she also holds a B.S. in Computer Science and a B.A. in Media Studies from Harvey Mudd College.
Waverly creates stop-motion films, builds production-ready puppets and sets, and develops creative tools that support the animation process. Her work has screened at festivals and arts venues including the Los Angeles International Children’s Film Festival and Chicago’s Steppenwolf Theatre Company. Her films have received an Outstanding Achievement Award at the Okie Women’s Film Festival, and an Honorable Mention from the LA Animation Festival.
