Class Description - 2 Day Class (10:00 am - 4:00 pm)
In this class, you’ll create some of the most beautiful and unique fabric you’ve ever seen. Karen will introduce you to a variety of dyeing techniques that produce stunning yardage. Using natural fibers such as silk and rayon, along with fiber-reactive dyes, we’ll bind, wrap, fold, pleat, twist—and dazzle!
You’ll be provided with silk and rayon to get started. You're also welcome to bring additional silk, rayon, or bamboo fabrics. Extra silk and rayon will be available for purchase at wholesale prices—a great benefit, especially with today’s rising silk costs.
A highlight of the class is “Folded Roses,” a brand-new technique developed by Karen and offered for the first time in a workshop setting. This method offers a fast, satisfying way to create multiple yards of gorgeous fabric with ease.
Once you've created your custom fabrics, Karen will guide you through several simple and beautiful garment-making projects, turning your handmade yardage into wearable art.
