Explore the Creative Potential of Heat-Shapeable Batting
Take your quilting off the wall and into the air! This hands-on workshop introduces you to the versatile world of Fosshape 300, a unique heat-activated material that transforms soft textiles into rigid, freestanding art.
In this session, we will cover the fundamental techniques of shaping and stabilizing as we create elegant quilted cylinders and bowls. Once you master the basics of the "Third Dimension," you’ll have the skills to unlock endless variations and sculptural forms for your future projects.
Class Details
Skill Level: Suitable for those comfortable with a sewing machine.
What You Will Learn
The basics of working with heat-shapeable batting.
How to construct freestanding quilted structures.
Techniques for manipulating shapes to create unique 3D textures.
Required Supply List
A minimum of 8 different fabrics- in 1/2 yard quantities - any kind of material that isn’t sheer. This is the perfect place to use your amazing hand dyes or fun prints. The interiors of the sculptures will be visible, so you will need a pair for each outside fabric.
Sewing machine, and supplies (pins, scissors, thread etc) *machine should be set up for quilting, either free motion, or with a walking foot. You will be quilting an approximately 18x20” piece or smaller.
Neutral colored button &; carpet thread and sturdy needle.
A small, handheld steamer such as the Conair Extreme Steam Fabric Steamer from Target is really handy - if this isn’t an option, we can use steam irons
