Desideratum & Other Uncommon Words by Cori Crawford

Opening: May 18th 5 to 8 pm

This body of work takes on a critical perspective, exploring the dynamic relationship between nature, language, and the human condition. Drawing inspiration from the Oklahoma landscape, Crawford seeks to shine a light on the often shaky ground of communication and misunderstanding between human beings. As an artist based in Oklahoma, they observe the nuances in the landscapes around them and capture those observations through the lens of language. The pieces attempt to fashion an inner dialogue between humans and nature, delving deep into the profound impact of language on the human mind. Crawford seeks to express the intrinsic connection between humanity and the natural world and offer viewers a greater understanding of the natural landscape and its impact on our emotional well-being.

Artist Bio:

My name is Cori Crawford. I was born and raised in the Oklahoma countryside, so my love for the outdoors and natural landscapes began at a young age. As a printmaker and painter, I specialize in creating prints and oil paintings of atmospheric scenes. The Wichita Mountains, grassy plains, and red-tailed hawks are among my favorite subject matter.
