Fabric Shape/ Resist Technique (ItajimE Shibori )

Fabric Folding, pleating, binding, and dyeing to create patterns and color on fabric 

In this class, you will create beautiful patterns on fabric using the ancient Japanese art of Itajime, a fabric folding and resist technique. You will learn folding, clamping, dyeing, and other resist techniques. You will learn how to use easy and permanent fiber-reactive dyes that leave your fabric soft.  You will complete multiple pieces that can be used in other fiber art such as quilting, home décor, or clothing. Students are encouraged to bring additional fiber if desired or purchase from the teacher.

 Class fee includes all tools/supplies and fiber - $60

 

Supplies provided – Natural fiber fabric samples, dyes, brushes, clamps, string, rubber gloves and resist tools. Students can bring additional fabric to dye or purchase in the class.

Skill – No skill required, just enthusiasm. Maximum 12 students
