Artful Threads Workshop with Carol Webster

July 20 - 1pm to 5pm

If you love to create fabric collages as a way to fill an art journal, this workshop will be exciting for you! I will show you techniques that will make your journal unique and they are so much fun to do.

YOU’LL LEARN:

  • how to make digital negatives from pressed flowers and leaves to use with the cyanotype process on a tea bag.

  • two ways to use the cyanotype process on tea bags with both the negative that you created and the original pressed flowers and leaves.

  • to finish your journal pages in your own unique style with embellishments and stitching. As your workshop leader, I want you to complete several pages in your journal before you leave the class.

WHAT YOU’LL CREATE:

  • Several pieces of tea bag art that will be mounted into a fabric page art journal

  • Digital negatives from photographs of pressed flowers and leaves that we’ll take in class and print on digital negative film

  • Cyanotype process on tea bags using a negative and actual pressed flowers and leaves

  • New enthusiasm for your stash. Even tiny pieces have big value in small art. You'll find lots of opportunities to embellish your small art with stitching, beads, buttons, ribbons, lots of texture, color, and pattern.

  • The know-how to make small art you can work in your lap or on the go

  • New pages for your fabric art journal. If you were a student in the June, 2023 workshop, please bring the journal you made.
