Fantastic Fabric Fun - Arashi Shibori - 

The Pole-Wrapping Technique and smocking machine technique

A technique to manipulate natural fiber fabric around a PVC pipe to create organic pattern design and shapes. Binding the fabric with string manipulating the fabric into folds and patterns and applying layers of dye.  The dye and pattern will be permanently set. You will also set permanent folds, and shapes to create texture as well as create flat pattern design.  In addition, a smocking machine will be used to create shapes and texture. You will complete several pieces of fabric or scarves. This fiber can be used in quilts, clothing and any fabric project.

Class fee includes all tools/supplies and fiber - $70

 

Supplies provided – Natural fiber fabric samples, and 2 scarves, dyes, chemicals, brushes, string , rubber gloves and resist tools. Students can bring additional fabric to dye or purchase in the class.

Skill – No skill required, just enthusiasm. Maximum 8 students
