History of the Festival
In 2013, ARTSPACE at Untitled inaugurated its first Steamroller Printmaking Art Festival, drawing over 100 attendees to the Deep Deuce District. By 2017, the festival had grown substantially, prompting us to collaborate with local businesses and organizations. The eve of the festival saw the introduction of a lively Cinco de Mayo mixology party featuring live music, meet-and-greet sessions with Big Ink artists, and culinary delights from some of Oklahoma City's premier establishments.
The dedication of our talented artists, volunteers, sponsors, and collaborators played a pivotal role in transforming the festival into a day-long celebration. In 2018, the momentum continued with an expansion that included over 250 participating artists and the support of our sponsors. The festival became a platform for students from our Mentorship Program, college students, and artists from across the state and region to showcase their talents and engage with the community.
The Steamroller Printmaking Art Festival involves a fascinating process of using a steamroller( asphalt press) as a printing press. Participants carve intricate designs onto massive woodblocks, which are then inked and pressed onto fabric using the sheer force of a steamroller , thus creating a giant stamp.
The Steamroller Printmaking Art Festival has grown yearly and is proud to have over 2,500 visitors. The festival's success and expansion underscore its journey from a modest start to a thriving annual event showcasing the collective impact of the Oklahoma art scene—join us in celebrating creativity and community in 2026.
